On 11 July 2004, a Multi-Racial Community Funfair to promote multi-racial bonding in the community was held at the Cairnhill Community Club. Ms Indranee T Rajah, MP for Tanjong Pagar was the guest-of-honour.

This event was organised by the Cairnhill Community Club Management Committee, chaired by our Executive Director, Mrs Dorothy Chan.

The general public and invited guests including young children from Jamiyah and Pertapis Children’s Home, senior citizens from Henderson Community Club and members of the Lion Befrienders, had a great day of fun and bonded over various activities. There were karaoke singing, line dancing, rock climbing and cooking demonstrations.

The children’s art contest and the popular cake-making competition created much excitement among the participants. A total of 35 mouth-watering cakes, of which 17 were contributed by Far East Organization’s staff, were submitted for the competition. The beautiful creations included coconut fudge cake, yam mousse cake, yummy cheese cake and lapis layer cake.

In addition, 12 food stalls offering appertising delicacies and 15 exciting game stalls manned by 50 volunteers from Far East Organization’s Sales and Leasing and Financial Management Divisions brought a carnival atmosphere to the event.

The takings from these stalls, totalling $5000, were contributed to Jamiyah and Tanglin Cairnhill Citizens’ Consultative Committee.
