In “An Evening of Music & Culture” on 13 January 2004, $200,000 was raised at the Jamiyah Fund Raising Dinner. Jamiyah is a non-profit organisation that serves the betterment of the Muslim and other communities, in particular the less fortunate and under privileged. Its activities comprise various educational, religious, welfare and social programmes. Of the funds raised, $150,000 went towards the Education Trust Fund and $50,000 was allocated to the Maids Education/Nursing Fund being set up by Dr Della Lee, wife of Dr Lee Seng Gee, Chairman of Lee Foundation.

On 10 April 2004, a Fund Raising Gala Dinner, “Some Enchanted Evening”, was organised for the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. His Excellency Mr S R Nathan, President of Singapore, was the guest-of-honour.

Singing performances by distinguished guests – Mrs Goh Chok Tong; Mr Yeo Cheow Tong, Minister for Transport; Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education; Dr Lily Neo, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC; Mr Poh Choon Ann, Chairman of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra Marketing and Sponsorship Committee; as well as Mr and Mrs Chan Thye King – brought the evening to a high note.

$700,000 was raised with the generous support of the Lee Foundation, which contributed $200,000.

Both events were held at the ballroom of The Fullerton Singapore.
