Sino Group is confident of leasing out all the office units in Skyline Tower within 2004.

Tenants have been found for 700,000 sq ft of office space. This made up nearly 80% of Skyline Tower total floor area of about 910,000 sq ft.

“The demand for office space can be attributed to the strong recovery of the Hong Kong economy. Hong Kong’s status as the bridgehead for foreign capital entering Mainland China has strengthened with the implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between Mainland China and Hong Kong on 1 January 2004. The remaining office space at Skyline Tower is expected to be leased out by the end of this year bringing in about HK$130 (S$28.236) million annually,” said Mr Lawrence Chong, General Manager (Leasing) of Sino Group.

Skyline Tower’s two biggest tenants are Government Property Agency (GPA) and Expeditors International, a renowned international logistics company.

GPA leased 300,000 sq ft of office space at Skyline Tower for eight government departments. This is the biggest single government transaction in the last 10 years in Hong Kong.

Mr Mok Kam Kwan, Deputy Government Property Administrator, said GPA decided to lease Skyline Tower because it fulfilled all three of its major considerations: the location of Skyline Tower in Kowloon Bay is convenient; Skyline Tower has very efficient floor layout for accommodating all eight departments; and it is ready for occupation within the required time frame.

Mr Stephen C. M. Lau, Treasurer of Expeditors International, said they have chosen Skyline Tower because it met its two prerequisites – advance facilities and good location – which are important for a logistics company’s backup office.

Skyline Tower is a 38-storey development with an annex eight-storey carpark building. The carpark building also houses an exhibition plaza suitable for trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, banquets and other functions.

Skyline Tower is strategically located at the transport hub of Kowloon East allowing access to all parts of the city. It has a very efficient rectangular floor plate of over 28,000 sq ft. This has proved to be very popular amongst multinational companies. The building enjoys panoramic views of the Victoria Harbour on three sides with the remaining north side facing the famous Lion Rock of Hong Kong.
