Our second annual Business Process Improvement (BPI) Awards competition was held at Golden Landmark Hotel from 8 to 12 December 2006.

The BPI Awards programme is an organisation-wide initiative to recognise and reward departments that have made the most improvements to their work processes during the year. The BPI projects submitted for the competition must entail a systematic, disciplined approach that critically examines, rethinks, redesigns and implements the redesigned processes with a goal to achieving significant improvements in performance in areas important to customers and other stakeholders.

The qualifying period for BPI projects in the 2006 Awards programme was from 1 December 2005 to 30 November 2006. A total of 24 BPI projects from throughout the Organization were submitted for the competition, which was presided by a panel of judges comprising Top Executives. At the end of the BPI project presentations by the participating teams, the judges voted for the top three most improved departments.

The Winner of the BPI Award clinched a cash prize amounting to the total wage roll of one month's basic salary of the winning team, to be allocated among the team members. Two Merit Awards were also given, each with the aggregate of half a month's basic salary of the respective winning teams.

The awards were presented by our Chief Executive Officer,
Mr Philip Ng, at the Far East Organization Annual Dinner and Dance on 22 December 2006.

We honour here the winners of the BPI Awards 2006. By recasting and simplifying their work processes, the winning teams have shortened transaction times, raised productivity and improved substantially the interfaces with customers, business partners and with each other. In their own way, they made a significant impact to our organisational performance.

Let us all be spurred by our colleagues' success to come out with even more creative ideas to make a difference to our operations with our BPI projects in 2007!
