The Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre (AMKFSC) hosted a Charity Golf event together with YMCA of Singapore to raise funds for their community programmes on 30 July 2003.

Far East Organization under its organisation-wide community service programme, Caring Hearts, was the principal donor with $50,000.

“Far East Organization has been in partnership with AMKFSC for the last year. They have shown sensitivity to the needs of our clients, providing them with opportunities of interaction, socialisation, training and practical help. More than that, they have displayed their care and friendship,” said Ms Sudha Nair, Director of AMKFSC. “Their staff, of all ranks and levels, have not hesitated to participate in the activities, whether it was carrying boxes, playing or teaching the children and their families. They have shown the true spirit of volunteerism, organising activities because they want to help. The true success of their efforts is priceless and can only be measured in the joy that our clients - the families and children - take away with them. We are truly appreciative of their kindness, generosity and more importantly, of the friendship that has been forged between AMKFSC and Far East Organization.”

AMKFSC was Caring Hearts’ first adopted charity. Over a year-long programme from May 2002 to June 2003, Caring Hearts rolled out a series of activities for families supported by AMKFSC under its BASIC and Healthy Start programmes. These included fund-raising and donation drives, movie days, sports days, family day, toys & books collection drive, art & craft workshops, factory & farm visits, food donations, and festive celebrations.
